RFDS Partnership

Today, we’re excited to announce a strategic partnership with Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) Victoria to co-develop an AI-enabled integrated patient record system designed specifically for pre-hospital care in Australia.

Through this partnership, RFDS Victoria will provide real-world clinical environments, simulation and validation support to ensure the solution is tailored for real-world ambulance and patient transport workflows across metro and regional Victoria. NexusMD.ai will lead the design and development of the secure AI-enabled solution, working closely with RFDS Victoria teams to ensure it is practical, reliable, and aligned with frontline care delivery.

The partnership seeks to reduce key operational pressures by supporting paramedics, ambulance transport attendants, and patient transport officers to capture accurate clinical information in complex, high-noise environments, reducing documentation burden, enabling offline care in remote regions, and strengthening secure and faster clinical handovers into receiving hospitals.

RFDS Victoria delivers essential primary health, patient transport, and community care services across the state. With extensive experience supporting isolated communities, RFDS combines clinical capability, innovation, and deep community partnerships to improve access to high-quality care. Non-emergency patient transport (NEPT) crew operate in diverse environments, ensuring patients receive safe, timely, and coordinated support throughout their healthcare journey.

Dr Michael Ben-Meir, CEO of RFDS Victoria said: “RFDS Victoria has a long history of embracing new ways to strengthen care for patients through innovation and technology. This partnership builds on that legacy by developing tools that reduce documentation burden, improve clinical clarity, and support safer, more connected care in fast-moving pre-hospital environments.”

What the system will enable

  • Strengthening care delivery across complex and remote care environments - Supporting accurate and consistent real-time information capture in high-pressure patient transport settings, including rural and remote areas with limited connectivity.
  • Reducing administrative burden while improving record quality - Generating structured patient records as care is delivered, enabling paramedics to spend less time on paperwork and more time focused on patients.
  • Strengthening clinical handover and continuity of care - Providing immediate transportsummaries to support faster and smoother emergency handovers.
  • Maintaining paramedic control and safeguarding patient privacy - Ensuring paramedics retain full control over recording and documentation approval, with health information handled in accordance with hospital-grade security standards and Australian privacy requirements.
“Paramedics and transport teams often run under time pressure and operate in some of the most demanding environments in healthcare,” said Mike Zhu, Founder and CEO of NexusMD.ai. “We are proud to partner with RFDS Victoria to develop an AI-enabled solution that reduces paramedics' administrative burden while maintaining trust, safety and clinical control. Our focus is on building a secure AI layer that supports people, and strengthens the system around them.”

The partnership reflects a shared commitment to responsible innovation and to strengthening pre-hospital care as a critical part of Australia’s healthcare system, supporting better outcomes for patients, paramedics, and clinicians.

Excited for what we’re building together — a smoother and more connected future for pre-hospital care.
